Principal's Desk - VES College of Pharmacy

I have a great pleasure in introducing VES College of Pharmacy to you. Our institute is one of the 26 institutes of the highly reputed Vivekanand Education Society.

Vivekanand Education Society started their education activities in 1962, and today, the society has more than 16000 bright young minds under its umbrella studying in different disciplines such as engineering, management, arts, science, commerce, pharmacy, law etc. The Mission of VES is to develop holistic approach in gaining knowledge, skills and wisdom, which would eventually lead to cultural and spiritual integration.The society has a heritage of producing institution of very high education standards, which have made a mark in the field of education. As a policy of Vivekanand Education Society, the admission process of all its institutions is through centralized process based on merit as per guidelines of Directorate of Technical Education (DTE). I take pride in mentioning that there is no management quota for admission, thus keeping transparency and high ethics in the entire admission process.

Vivekanand Education Society’s College of Pharmacy, the newest jewel in the crown of Vivekanand Education Society, was established in July 2007 in a six storied building at Hashu Advani Memorial Complex, Collector Colony, Chembur with a built up area of 3502 sq. meters. The College is affiliated to University of Mumbai and approved by AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education).

The vision of VESCOP is to be the centre of excellence in the field of education and research. We plan to achieve this by mentoring our students so that they overcome challenges in the health care industry with knowledge, skills, courage, confidence and integrity.

We are striving hard for academic excellence. The management has provided us very good educational infrastructure. Presently the college has 12 state of the art laboratories having all equipments and machinery for pharmaceutical manufacturing and standardization.

We also have central facilities such as Library, Instrument Room, Computer Lab. with 43 computers and free internet access. The animal house for experimenting effect of drugs on the animals and pilot plant for large scale manufacturing of medicines are as per the latest regulatory guidelines.

We have other amenities such as canteen, indoor games, common room,hostel for girls and boys. We have a well equipped medical emergency room with the physician available on call.

Our most important strength is our faculty. We have a team of dedicated, competent and experienced faculty members who not only educate our student but also take personal care of them as human being through “Student mentoring cell”. Our teachers would be aiming at shaping out students and building a burning desire to learn in them.

One of our important goals is to provide the best possible opportunities for the industrial exposure. We are achieving this objective by inviting renowned professionals from the industry for guest lectures, arranging for the factory visits, offering in –plant training to our students after T.Y.B. Pharm. and conducting industry sponsored seminars or projects.(Over last two years, the College has organized 5 state level / National level seminars on topics of concern such as Pharmacovigilance, Comprehensive approaches in treatment of Cancer, Clinical research, Chiral Chromatography, Novel drug delivery system.

We would also be aggressively planning our campus interviews every year to achieve 100% placements of students wishing to work after graduation.

Our first batch has graduated in July 2011 with flying colours. The overall result of the College is 98.79% with 12 distinctions, 35 first Classes. Our College turned out to be the best performer at University of Mumbai. Our student, Chaitali Surve, topped the University of Mumbai with 73.4% marks.

Our endeavor is to provide a strong research base to our students. In order to achieve this goal,the management has started M.Pharm. in Pharmaceutics with intake of 18 seats in the year 2011. We Plan to start M.Pharm. in the other branches as well as Ph.D. in the following years.

VES leadership Academy and Research Centre (VESLARC) is helping VESCOP to achieve this goal. VESLARC would be grooming our students to be a true professional with high ethics and strong character.

We believe cultural development is important part of education. Our college has done wonders over last 4 years in a no. of extracurricular and co-curricular events by receiving many awards at national and state level competitions. Recently our college has bagged the Best College Trophy at Mumbai district level and 2nd position at the national level for health campaigns of social awareness.

A team of VESCOP is committed to the goal of imparting quality education & building character of students. With the highly professional environment provided by the management & sincere efforts of the staff of VESCOP, we are aiming to be one of the leading Pharmacy colleges in the days to comes.
